Latest "Horizon Zero Dawn" Patch Fixes Anisotropic Filtering and Other Graphic Problems

Patch 1.07 for Horizon Zero Dawn is now available and focuses on graphical issues. Previously there was a non-skippable shader optimization on first launch, but this patch replaces it with a pre-optimization that starts in the main menu and a dynamic optimization that continues in-game. You can skip the pre-optimization step if you want to get into optimization right away, but finishing it will reduce loading time. Another major fix: "Anisotropic filtering now works properly."

In our review, we noted that Horizon Zero Dawn at launch was a "somewhat inconsistent PC port" that performed well on one rig and poorly on another, regardless of specs. Since then, subsequent patches have improved performance and fixed notable bugs, including a bug that caused the main character, Aloy, to be trapped as a child forever, a bug that prevented him from walking in the direction the camera was facing, and a bug that caused hair to not display correctly when the game was running at 30fps or higher

Guerrilla.

The remaining known issues listed by Guerrilla Games include instabilities related to CPUs with more than 16 cores and problems with certain graphics settings, such as HDR, not working properly, which will be the subject of future patches.
