Capcom Says It Was Hacked, But No Customer Information Was Leaked

Capcom issued a press release acknowledging that its internal systems were hacked a few days ago.

"Since the early morning of November 2, 2020, a problem affecting access to certain systems, including mail and file servers, has occurred on some networks of the Capcom Group. This was due to unauthorized access by a third party, and as of November 2, we have confirmed that some operations of the internal network have been suspended."

The release further states, "At this time, there is no indication that customer information has been compromised. If you have a Capcom account, it is best to err on the safe side and assume it has been compromised until more information is available.

The release concludes, "Capcom is taking steps to investigate and restore the system in consultation with the police and other relevant authorities." I don't know what will happen, but I quite like the idea of Mr. X busting down the door of the basement dweller's house to bring him to justice.

I contacted Capcom for further details on the nature of this breach.
