Each time a hole is blocked, the cheetahs in "Call of Duty: Warzone" find a new way to get under the map.

"Call of Duty: Warzone" has a cheat problem. The game's ongoing problems with hacking are well known, but another problem is exploits that allow players to cheat their way to victory without the use of third-party software. One of the most persistent exploits since the launch of the game is one that allows players to get under the map and shoot through the ground.

Imagine what it would be like to face an opponent using this exploit, and it's as bad as you can imagine. The culprit cannot reach 10 meters below the crust at all, but as a result can easily see and shoot the enemy. The gas circle cannot reach them either, so technically they don't have to do anything to win, they just have to wait for everyone else to die.

In a clip posted yesterday on the Warzone subreddit by div2691 (see below), that seems to be what is happening.

While it is possible that the player who supernaturally survived in the circle recreated the Stim glitch that allows players to regain strength indefinitely and not perish from the gas, it is far more likely that this player found his way down the map. After all, this would not be the first, second or third time this has happened. Players have been drilling new holes in Verdansk for months now, and Infinity Ward has been busy repairing the holes that have been discovered.

The most famous version of the bug reached its breaking point in a video that spread on Reddit and YouTube in May, showing players flying helicopters through the ground and taking free reign of the map below the surface.

This clip by kingofthenawth is seriously worth watching all the way through. By the end of the match, we see them barely surviving a firefight, adapting to a very tight circle, and fighting tooth and nail. You can watch them accept defeat as they jump off the roof and find the outline of a helicopter under the floor. Within seconds, the cheaters easily kill them.

Thankfully, Activision has patched this particular hole. However, that scenario is still a possibility, as people continue to find similar versions of the same bug; the Warzone map is updated so often, adding new buildings and entire subways, that patching every inch of it may be next to impossible. In fact, the subway was exactly where the last popular glitch hole was found.

Recently, a player achieved a similar effect to the glitch on the map without going underground. Streamer Ethan Stellar was able to drop a loadout box on top of himself and clip it there. The result was a perfect bulletproof box from which Stellar could shoot at will.

"The only way to get Activision to fix the glitch... Blame Activision and [Infinity Ward]," the caption of the video reads. (Of course, Stellar can also report bugs through its official channels.)

Persistent games with frequent updates will always have bugs; Infinity Ward has done well in this regard so far, and we hope they can continue to do so when Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is integrated with Warzone in December. I just hope they can keep up the pace when Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is integrated with Warzone in December.
