The undervoltage of AMD Ryzen 5000 will be improved more than ever with future updates.

AMD's director of technical marketing, Robert Hallock, has promised that a new and improved undervoltage feature for Ryzen 5000 chips will be bundled with a future AGESA firmware update.

Currently, AMD's Ryzen 5000 processors do not offer undervoltage capability in any capacity; AMD does offer the ability to run the processor within low TDP constraints, such as lowering TDP 105W parts to TDP 65W, but beyond that, stock configuration you will be stuck a bit.

At least for the time being; AMD's Robert Hallock has listed several PSAs on his Twitter account, including details of the new "hype" undervolting feature.

AMD has not provided an exact timeframe for when the AGESA update with the new features will arrive, but we can expect "better frequency, voltage, and performance tweaks" when it does arrive.

Which AGESA update you are running and which one you should download may be a bit confusing; you can read more on AMD's community website, but basically it is up to the manufacturer to implement the code. AMD Generic Encapsulated System Architecture" (AGESA) can be found on the manufacturer's download page to see which BIOS implements it.

New features expected in AGESA versions beyond AGESA 1.1.0.0 include:

flck optimization allows AMD Ryzen 5000 processors and 4,000 MHz DDR4 RAM to run at a 1:1 ratio. Currently, this feature is limited to those lucky enough to own a good performing sample of Zen 3.

But if you can't wait to tinker with the internals of the chip, you can always overclock it; we haven't had much luck with the Ryzen 9 5900X, a chip that seems to reach its limits right out of the box, but we have had less luck with the cheaper Ryzen 5 5600X We had great success with overclocking. Alan managed to push this 65W chip (which is likely the key to success) to 4.7GHz at 1.3V and 4.6GHz at 1.2V. Further fine-tuning would probably have an even greater effect.
