These gorgeous water blocks show that the RTX 3080 is a GPU best served cold. And wet.

If you have or plan to have a full water-cooling loop on your machine before you get your hands on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPU, you will want a water block that can handle the heat. Just now, Inno3D has announced the iChill Frostbite, an RGB water block for the new Ampere cards that takes a "radical approach" to design.

The new iChill Frostbite waterblock (via TechPowerup), the successor to the 20 series, features recalibrated components and a thermal pad just 1mm thick. The thickness of the pure copper nickel-plated baseplate that seals the heatsink has also been reduced to 5.5mm, and the water flow around the translucent design has been optimized, as the old block was compatible with Nvidia's 20 series cards.

After all this redesign work, these water cooling solutions boast a 17 percent drop in operating temperature when used with R=Nvidia RTX 3080 or RTX 3090 Founders Editions. Supposedly, Inno3D lists the FE's temperature at 75°C, but in our review, the RTX 3090 FE has a peak temperature of 70°C and an average game temperature of 65°C. We'll leave the calculations to you.

iChill's Frostbite models may be at least more readily available than Founders Editions. No word yet on pricing, but these waterblocks will be pre-installed on AIB RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards.

Meanwhile, EK has released a standalone water block to keep up with the liquid chilling hype; EK has finally released a special edition EK-Quantum Vector water block, the RTX 3080 Founders Edition While limited to use with the card, it appears to be a tasty treat of a component.

These D-RGB waterblocks are "the most complex GPU cooling solution ever developed by EK," with the largest cooling engine EK has ever used and an extremely thick copper base. This heavyweight water block has approximately 30% more surface area than other Vector series water blocks and comes pre-installed with brass standoffs to secure it in place.

The FE EK-Quantum Vector also features low flow restrictions and performs best when combined with a low-speed water pump. Also, high quality EPDM O-rings help keep all that lovely liquid where it belongs.

The first batch of EK-Quantum Vector water blocks will be shipping around the beginning of December and will be available in black or silver color variations to complement your battle station style choice.

If you're excited about the topic of water cooling, you can pre-order now for a whopping $280 at the EKWB store.
