17" 144Hz gaming laptop with RTX 2070 for $1,200 after rebate

If, like me, you're an avid fan of the 17.3-inch laptop form factor, this deal is potentially for you; Newegg is offering MSI's GL75 Leopard with a GeForce RTX 2070 GPU for $100 with 1,199 with a mail-in rebate.

I know, I know - playing the rebate game is not my idea of a good time either. But the pre-rebate discounted price is still pretty good. The laptop is already marked down $100 to $1,399, and if you enter the promotional code "4STUDENT" at checkout, the price is reduced another $100 to $1,299. This means a savings of $200 without rebate, or $300 if you take the time to print out the form and mail it in.

The coupon code is listed on the product page, and there is no mention that you must actually be a student to use it. This listing also qualifies for Newegg's Black Friday protection offer.

"If you purchase an eligible product that displays a badge from November 1 through November 22, 2020, and the same product is discounted to a lower price on Newegg.com by November 30, 2020 after purchase, Newegg will automatically refund the difference to your original payment method. Refunds will be processed automatically by December 7, 2020, and a confirmation email will be sent," Newegg explains.

With this deal, you get a lot of laptop for your money. It starts with a big, fast 144Hz IPS display. With a native resolution of 1920x1080, the RTX 2070 plays less-intensive games with little trouble, and delivers 60 fps or better on more demanding titles.

Other hardware includes an Intel Core i7 10750H "Comet Lake" processor (6C/12T, 2.6GHz-5GHz, 12MB L3 cache), 16GB DDR4-2666 memory, 512GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD storage combo includes.

Wireless connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.1, while the wired set includes a pair of USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, mini DisplayPort and HDMI output, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Finally, there is a SteelSeries deck with RGB backlighting for each key. Overall, there are no particular financial weaknesses with this configuration.
