The AMD Ryzen 5000 was the "fastest selling CPU launch" for one UK retailer.

After lamenting that Zen 3 CPUs were selling out everywhere, it seems that AMD's Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions Marketing, Frank Azor, has indeed shipped "a few tons" of units.

Azor, who likes a bit of old Twitter, will be pleased to see the numbers from UK retailer Scan.co.uk, which has launched a status page for the Ryzen 5000 in conjunction with the Ampere GPU page, showing that RTX 3070, 3080, 3090 are (belatedly) arriving in stock and are gradually counting down the days until they are in the hands of buyers. This is both a popularity chart for the CPUs, with the 5900X leading the pack, as well as some background on what is going on.

"Demand was so high that the launch inventory we had sold out very quickly, making this our fastest selling CPU launch to date," wrote Scan's anonymous copywriter.

"This was also the case at all the retailers where we launched.

The Ryzen5000 chips certainly seem to be selling out everywhere, and several retailers like Mindfactory in Germany are celebrating the launch.

"AMD has assured us that there will be a significant amount of stock of the new CPUs, so the current wait for pre-orders shouldn't be long," Scan continued, while Azor posted about the "strong efforts" the company has made to avoid bots buying up inventory.
