Get YouTube Premium" Stadia hardware may be free

At the risk of sounding like a hopeless reproach, Google has decided to offer new YouTube Premium subscribers in the UK and US a free £90 ($99) Stadia hardware.

Better than burying it in the desert, we suppose, but before you rush to subscribe, there's a catch: to get the popular game streaming hardware there, you need to have subscribed to the popular video streaming service there before November 6. We tried to claim it on our long-standing premium account, but it was rejected; either Google doesn't like us, or there's something behind it. Click here to try.

If you fall into this narrow category, this is actually a pretty good deal. The hardware bundle comes with a Chromecast Ultra (new Chromecast with Google TV won't support Stadia until 2021), a Stadia controller (also available for PCs), and a 3-month service subscription.

As for the rest, Stadia was reduced from £119/$129 to £90/$99 in the summer and recently updated to support USB Type-C headphones and headsets; YouTube Music and Google Play Music are also included. YouTube Premium, which includes YouTube Music and Google Play Music, is £12/month, while the Stadia sub is £9/month/$10.

New releases such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 are coming, and Stadia has been criticized in the past for its small game library and upsampling of games Stadia's promotion runs through December 31; the company is also offering a free trial of the newest version of Stadia, which will be available for free on December 31.
