Xbox Series X gamers now have to deal with ambient occlusion settings. Welcome to the party.

When the first Xbox was released in 2001, some laughed at it as a PC in console skin. But they are no longer laughing, and now that the Xbox Series X is available, the circle is complete. menu, including various levels of shadow quality, anisotropic filtering, and the ability to turn off motion blur. Evan is right, we have won the console war.

The game in question is Bright Memory, developed in China, and this screen was spotted by Matt Brown, editor of our sister site Windows Central, and posted on Twitter.

It combines a somewhat convoluted backstory of 1,000-year-old swords, raising the dead, giant terrorist organizations, quantum transporters, and floating islands with combo-based first-person hack-and-slash gameplay.

And as if swords weren't enough, guns also make an appearance. Running on Unreal Engine 4, it looks kinda fun. [It's not often that the PC gaming world feeds back into the console world - usually it's the other way around - but as the architectures of the two become closer and closer, we'll probably see this happen more often. Being able to choose between beauty and frame rate is a positive move for gaming, but it moves away from the console's original ideal of plug-and-play gaming for everyone.

It may be interesting to note that just as we PC gamers have become more accepting of controllers like the PS5's spectacular new DualSense, console gamers are also discovering the benefits of PC control systems in general.
