Baldur's Gate 3 developer sums up the players: "Everyone is horny.

Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke recently spoke with IGN about the progress of Baldur's Gate 3 in Early Access and what the developers have learned about players. 'They are all horny.'

We know that the most romantic NPC in this RPG is a human wizard who looks like something out of a male grooming product commercial, but apparently players are going out of their way to get with one of the villains, the dark elf Minthara. Finke looks a little creeped out as he says, "I can tell you how many people have slept with Minthara." 'I can tell you how many people have slept with Minthara,' Finke said, looking a little creeped out." There are certainly people who have no moral conscience."

Baldur's Gate 3 contains a thorough variety of ways to be evil, if not just to get laid. Apparently the studio writers had to be pushed to add some of them. The writers are good and tend not to include evil choices." The writers tend to be good and don't make evil choices. But it's a tradition of the series to have choices in every alignment, even if it kind of sucked to be evil in the first two films." Vinke explains, "For there to be choices, there has to be good, evil, and the ability to do something in between.

Players are exploring the evil option, but some are put off by the meanness of the friends they can recruit in this Early Access version. These include two characters who are stubborn, inflexible, and often quarrelsome, as well as a straight-up vampire." "There were people who complained that the companions were snarky and that they had to have opinions," Vincke said. But we only offer "evil" and "neutral." We haven't introduced any "good" characters yet, so I think that will balance things out."

Despite the many differences between Baldur's Gate 3 and the original game, the argumentative and sometimes evil companions feel very true to the series, where they met and could be recruited by the obviously evil Xzar and Montaron almost immediately after the tutorial.

While adding more good companions, as Larian plans to do, will please players who do not want to walk around with a party of edgelords, some players have too fundamental complaints. For example, players who want real-time combat. Vincke said, "The game will eventually be mod-enabled. As a result, we expect "Baldur's Gate 3" to come in multiple flavors. Over time, hopefully, there will be flavors that will appeal to all."

Our own Dave James had to uninstall Baldur's Gate 3 in Early Access.
