The "Hitman" series celebrates its 20th anniversary this month and boasts 70 million lifetime players.

November 21 is an important date for IO Interactive, as it marks the release of "Hitman: Codename 47" in 2000. The "Hitman" series currently has seven games on the market, and the eighth, "Hitman 3," will be released in January 2021.

That's reason enough for IO Interactive to start celebrating early, revealing in a recent blog post that the franchise has attracted 70 million players in its 20-year history. In 2016, IO Interactive announced that with "Hitman" (2016), the " World of Assassination" trilogy, launching a slightly softer reboot of the series and introducing an episodic release and sandbox setting. Hitman 2 (2018) refined the sandbox concept with its amazing level design, giving players countless ways to approach and ultimately finish off their targets.

While the Hitman reincarnation has a lot of charm, the initial release always felt a bit bare-bones, but IO Interactive has added new levels and iconic locations that every aspiring agent has dreamed of breaking into at least once, including a high-security bank vault They did a great job of including locations. While the older trilogy has always stood out for its emphasis on plot and the progress it has made in the stealth genre as a whole, every "Hitman" game has its own charm - yes, even "Hitman Absolution". For those who want to be convinced, Andy made an epic case for "Hitman 2" last year. See, this game has a homing briefcase.

IO Interactive joins the celebration with good old social media engagement, inviting you to share your favorite memories and fan works using the #Hitman20Years hashtag across all platforms.
