Pitfalls in "Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War" can't stop.

Shooting people and infiltrating secret Soviet bases is fun, but I've been too distracted by the fully playable pitfall arcade machine I found in the "Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War" campaign. In fact, it's one of many I've played, most of which are located in this dusty Ukrainian arcade.

I'm going to talk a bit about the Cold War campaign, so if you're shy about mild spoilers, look away (or scroll down for a neat GIF).

I know Black Ops tends to be taken less seriously than most Infinity Ward games, but I didn't expect Frank Woods to berate my platforming skills while enemy soldiers patrol the perimeter. So far I have found six playable arcade games.

The first is an Enduro machine crammed into the back of a German electronics store; the rest are in a Soviet base built to resemble an American city block, arcades included. That is the mission "Red Light, Green Light."

Here are all the games I've found so far:

At this pace of the campaign, it's probably not an exhaustive list; for someone like me, born in the 90s and having had little exposure to Atari-made games in the 80s, it's a real treat to get a taste of the best Activision had to offer in 1982. I'm a 90's kid, and having had little exposure to Atari games of the 80's, it's bliss to taste the best Activision had to offer in 1982. Pitfall certainly lives up to its reputation (those pits are intense), but my unexpected runner-up is Enduro.

Enduro is a thought-provoking grand prix. With realistic overhead camera angles, dangerous turns, and aggressive opponents, every moment that I didn't hit another car felt like a miracle.

Then there is Barnstorming, a game about a pilot with a serious death wish. The first few times I enjoyed it, but it reminded me too much of the Google T-Rex Runner game that comes up when the internet goes out. That was disappointing, so I went back to Pitfall.

Anyway, back to infiltrating the Soviet base. Woods is yelling at us and it looks like he stabbed a guy. In other Cold War news, some clever setups should make multiplayer stream sniping a lot harder.
