The PC port of “Red Dead Redemption” was, of all things, proudly “announced” on the PS4 version's store page.

This morning, several of PC Gamer's best writers (myself included) were staring at the description of the Red Dead Redemption store page on the PlayStation website. We were trying to figure out why we were seeing a PC port of Red Dead Redemption, which has not been released on PC since its 2010 debut, proudly and proudly announced on the PlayStation 4 store page, because it was Because.

It's been removed now, but luckily I was able to take a screenshot. Still, unless we were having a collective hallucination, we're pretty sure the store page said:

“Experience the epic western adventure that made an era, now for the first time on PC.” And it goes on to explain that both the baseline 2010 game Red Dead Redemption and the expanded Undead Nightmare will be ported:

“Complete single-player for both games, including bonus content for the Game of the Year Edition. experience, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console upgrades, plus PC-specific enhancements including increased resolution and frame rate, support for multiple displays and other accessories, and spatial surround sound."

“The new PC is the first of its kind in the world.

The only exception to this wealth of features is the absence of multiplayer content. This is unfortunate, as is the lack of online support for the PS4 version of the game, which was released last year.

The “announcement” itself has us scratching our heads; Rockstar is owned by Take-Two Interactive, not Sony, so if the studio doesn't want to keep quiet about this announcement, we don't know why they are sending a press release to their peers. Another hilarious option is that Sony drafted it to convey this news.

I have seen databased information in the past few months that strongly suggests a transplant, but there is no guarantee that it will even come soon. It is entirely possible that Rockstar, Sony, or someone at their PR firm drafted this copy months ago and it just popped its head above the trenches by complete coincidence.

It is also fascinating that this sort of thing keeps happening on store fronts, not necessarily leaks, but with all sorts of strange incongruities and blunders. For example, no one noticed that “Silksong” had a Microsoft Store release date of 9998. Two Point Campus also leaked on the same store not long ago. We have asked Rockstar for comment and will update this article if we hear back.
