World of Warcraft launches August 26: I'm genuinely excited about Xal'atath chewing the scenery, Khadgar firing very large lasers, and the promise that a “new experience in Dalaran” will hit beta testing today.

It's not just new Dalaran shenanigans that Blizzard is teasing. There is also a short clip of a fully animated 2D mystery object, captioned simply “Soon™.”

Given the scale and production, some commenters have been buzzing about the possibility of an animated TV series being produced.

The animation style is very similar to that of Heroes of the Storm; Titmouse has worked on a number of films, including The Legend of Vox Machina, which became a franchise from a D&D live stream. Blizzard has worked with Titmouse before.

The logo at the end of the teaser specifically calls for an expansion itself, which is quite telling that it is designed to market the animated series rather than preview it. [...] [...]] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
