After four years in development and one mod-destroying next-gen update to Fallout 4, Fallout: London has finally been released. Over the weekend, many players rushed to this DLC-sized mod, and although there were some difficulties installing it, many are now exploring this new wasteland.
However, while it is great to see the Fallout world in a setting other than its usual American setting, some players are struggling with the colloquial differences. Some have created mods whose sole purpose is to change association football to soccer in the US.
"It's a soccer ball" was uploaded to the Nexus mod over the weekend, and as you can imagine, most users do not find it funny. 'No, this is definitely a soccer ball.'
Some even admit that the mod is fairly harmless and doesn't really affect those who don't want to use it; the creator of the mod, who calls himself GrumpyOldNord, even admits that the mod should be tolerated: "To be fair, I'm not trying to be humorous, joke, or just play I just tagged it as such". However, they point out that other users have added unrealistic or horror tags.
But scrolling through the comments, it is painfully obvious that this is no laughing matter for many players. The debate over whether the local language should be respected has devolved into typical name-calling, as has the bizarre debate over the spelling of aluminum.
Complaints have also been received about the paucity of guns, and many feel that Team Fallon is shortchanging players with a minimal selection of weapons. However, the gun laws in the UK are very different, and AR15s are not lying around all over the place. 'This is England, not Florida. Gun design also makes more sense in the UK. Have you ever seen a 9mm pistol in London?' Someone else pointed out that you probably didn't see it because you probably didn't play the mod fully before complaining."
But the most interesting thing about this mod is how well your PC can handle this mod with "Fallout": can you play it with London? There have already been so many reports of crashes and bugs that one of the developers had to post a solution on the Fallout: London Reddit. So if you are experiencing crashes on startup, green UI, or not being able to select certain characters, you might want to browse this thread before you think about downloading a new mod.
