Elden Ring: Shadow of the Eldtree's latest patch shook up the weapons meta and fixed some of my favorite toys: Mr. Market is backhand blade, Rakshasa's Great Katana, Blind Spot's I'm bullish on Ash of War, but if you still have Swift Slash in stock, you'll want to sell it now. But a curious change was included in the patch: a fine wooden throne has been quietly added to Rellana's boss room, the Ensis Moongazing Grounds. What does this mean?
In my opinion, the chair was supposed to be here all along, but due to some bug or oversight, it was not present for about a month after Shadow of the Erdtree's launch.
The Ensis Moongazing Grounds clearly correspond to the Royal Moongazing Grounds in the base game Caria Manor, where you will fight a ghost version of Royal Knight Loretta. The new Encis chair is the exact same model as the ring of chairs in Caria. Perhaps the new Encis chair corresponds to a gap in that ring.
So, with regard to the derangement of the lore idea, I don't think the chair of enthesis means much. It is just a fairly superficial illustration of Lerana's homesickness (partial recreation of the Caria mansion) and loneliness (one chair vs. many chairs). Morgot's throne comes to mind, but there is also a very clear parallel in the room of Marenia and her boss, where she is dreaming in a similar chair, waiting for Michela's return.
And at this point, Elden's ring is having a major effect on my psyche: a single post-launch bugfix makes me think about the fine hardwood furniture in the Land of Narrows. Still, I can agree with one thing here: it's a bit odd that they let this bug sneak in without saying anything.
