Now, you may not be able to play “College Football 25” on your PC, but fear not.

Now, pickle-lovers (yes, they prefer to be called that) will tell you that this sport is very serious. After all, it is the fastest growing sport in America. Last year, LeBron James and Tom Brady bet big money on the sport, and even Novak Djokovic, the world's second-ranked tennis player, worries that the popularity of pickleball is putting club tennis at risk. It is even the official sport of my home state of Washington!

It makes sense, then, that pickleball would make its way into video games, as FarSight Studios' “PPA Pickleball Tour 2025,” released last week, features career and quick-play modes, an officially licensed paddle and clothing It features everything imaginable, including a character generator, a mo-cap pickleball pro, and dink battles.

The Steam trailer calls it “the most realistic video game the pickleball world has ever seen,” and the PPA Tour (Professional Pickleball Association, or Pickleball Association) is offering free demos at its tour stops this summer. The game seems to be positioned as the premier pickleball experience game, featuring realism, top players such as Anna Lee Waters and Ben Johns, and the ability to test your skills.

Unfortunately, initial impressions were not favorable. With only two arenas, no online multiplayer, and a price tag of $50, PPA Pickleball Tour 2025 is unlikely to replicate the sport's incredible rise. Pickleball is fun to play, but it would have been better to try something a little more innovative and fast-paced to compensate for the fact that it does not offer an amazing experience for the viewer.

Whether playing pickleball on the PC is thrilling enough to replace the snooty tennis enthusiasts at the local park remains to be seen, but at least unlike other new sports games available on the PC, “PPA Pickleball Tour 2025” is available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, with a Switch version planned.
