Blizzard Repairs Rift with Whoopi Goldberg; Lilith of “Diablo 4” Presents Star with “Key to Hell” at Whoopi Goldberg-Themed Marijuana Event

In a ceasefire as important as Westphalia, Versailles, and Paris, Diablo 4 maker Blizzard Entertainment and Whoopi Goldberg (from Sister Act) have publicly reconciled. It was a Whoopi Goldberg-themed cannabis event, attended by Diablo's general manager and Lilith herself (via Entertainment Weekly).

As you may not remember, Goldberg was upset with Blizzard around the time of Diablo 4's release last year, lashing out at the company in a now-deleted Instagram post for failing to port the game to her preferred system, the Mac.

Truth be told, Goldberg soon changed her hand. She received a refund for the game and moved on, upset that she could not play Diablo, of which she is a genuine fan. But now Blizzard has taken it a step further: Lilith and Inarius (the cosplayers) showed up at last Saturday's “A Night With Whoopi” event (promoting Whoopi's medical marijuana products) and presented her with “The Key to Hell.” Diablo general manager Rod Ferguson, who faced outrage as an Apple user of Whoopi last year, was there to make peace with the actor.

The pictures from the event were truly stunning, and the sight of the 68-year-old Goldberg flanked by the “Mother of Demons” and the “Creator of Sanctuary” with a big smile on his face is something my little mortal mind is struggling to process. Of course, it's all a ridiculous publicity stunt, but there's no denying that Goldberg is a genuine Diablo aficionado. Not just because she took to social media last year to air her grievances about “Diablo 4,” but because look at this picture of her playing the game at the event in full gamer style. This woman has transformed one or two of the wounded imps in her life.

Anyway, I don't think the key to hell will actually work in the game. After all, since Diablo 4 has not yet been released on Whoopi's Mac, it is unlikely she could have used it.

The timing is almost certainly no coincidence; Diablo 4 celebrated its first birthday last month, and its first major expansion, Vessels of Hate, will be released this October; PCG's Diablo follower Tyler Colp has said the game has been in pretty good shape lately Blizzard must be hoping that those who checked out the game will give it another shot.”
