Well, the staggering prices on gaming PCs with RTX 4090s and Nvidia's monster GPUs have been around for a long time, but this Amazon Prime Day is just beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Prime Day itself doesn't technically take place until tomorrow, but as any sale veteran will tell you, the deals start much earlier.

On Amazon Prime Day's PC gaming deals page, the discounts have already started a step ahead. As a result, we've already found several deals on machines featuring Nvidia's most powerful gaming GPUs, as well as the RTX 4090 itself at MSRP. [In my opinion, this is merciful manna from heaven. None of these deals are really cheap, but what you get is still the fastest gaming graphics card you can buy today for considerably less than you would have found just a week ago.

Nvidia's next-generation Blackwell GPUs have yet to be announced. The RTX 4090 has always been a very expensive component, but what you get for it is immense power, and it will continue to tear up the latest games for years to come. It is a card that will continue to tear up the latest games for years to come.

Let's start with the RTX 4090 itself. We've seen prices for Nvidia's top-of-the-line cards climb to frankly astronomical numbers, and even with the tremendous power in a single component, the $2,000-plus price tag is at least a little more sensible than you'd pay for an RTX 4080 or RTX 4080 Super (though still still high) compared to a slightly more sensible price, it really wasn't worth it.

We did see a Gigabyte model at MSRP this Prime Day. The MSI RTX 4090 is the cheapest card we found today at $1,700 at Walmart, and with 24GB of VRAM, 16,384 cores, and a 2,520MHz core clock, the RTX 4090 will be the GPU to hit high frame rates for some time to come. That said, who knows if even a $2,000 card will satisfy. At any rate, this tri-fan model should be cool enough under load to get every last drop of performance out of this powerful card.

A word of warning, though, make sure your power supply is up to the task before pulling the trigger; Nvidia recommends at least an 850W unit for the RTX 4090, just to be safe and to allow room for overhead on other components, A 1000W model from a reputable manufacturer is recommended.

So the card itself is priced at what it should have sold for many months ago. However, if you are planning to invest serious money for serious performance, it is worth considering buying a machine with all the high-end components along with a high-end card.

The RTX4090 can be held back by the slower components around it, but that is not a concern here. At the heart of this ABS Kaze Aqua is an Intel Core i9 13900K, a super-powerful 24-core monster with a maximum turbo frequency of 5.8 GHz, so this PC can handle almost any task you can throw at it.

Combine this with a 32GB DDR5 6000 and you have a component chain that can deliver the entire package of top performance that the RTX 4090 deserves. It also includes a 1000W PSU to provide ample power for the high-spec components.

The entire rig (including the 2 TB Gen 4 SSD) is currently available at Newegg for $2,800 due to recent price reductions. This is $200-300 less than almost every RTX 4090 machine I've seen this year, and one thing is for sure: even with the new Nvidia cards, this system will still rank very high in the top-end PC performance rankings.

There is also an Acer RTX 4090 gaming PC for $2,800. It has an Intel Core i9 13900KF, 32GB of DDR5, and the all-important RTX 4090, and costs $100 less than the ABS above. So what's the problem?

First, it only has a 1TB SSD, which in this case is paired with a 2TB HDD. Yes, a mechanical hard drive on a machine with the highest specs. The reason for this is not clear, but drive capacities in excess of 1 TB are only needed for file storage, not read/write speed.

Of course, you could also get a cheaper 2TB SSD from the Amazon Prime Day SSD info page, and given that the NVMe drive speeds are not listed here, that might be your best bet. Of course, it might cost more than the ABS Kaze Aqua.

Another drawback is the RAM speed. At least it is DDR5, but only 4400 MT/s. Frankly, in real-world use it won't make that much of a difference.

These caveats aside, this remains a very high-end machine with the fastest GPU you can buy today and a processor that is more than capable of handling it for $2,800. It also has a 1,200W platinum-rated PSU, so powering power-hungry components should not be a problem.

Still, we admit that it is not cheap by most standards. But now that we've hit our head against the brick wall of RTX 4090 pricing, these three deals prove that change has finally come.
