Bethesda's “next generation” update for Fallout 4 did not change the game itself significantly, but it did cause problems for almost every mod out there. The most famous casualty was the long-awaited Fallout: originally scheduled to be released on April 23 (St. George's Day, of course), it was delayed while the team worked on fixes.

The good news from the development team is that the “end is in sight” (unless you play on the Epic Games Store), and the mod will be released as soon as the development team and distributor GOG do their due diligence on the release build. In preparation for the release, project leader Dean 'Prilladog' Carter has revealed some of the features that players can look forward to, most notably a feature that, in Brexit times, sounds more like “OR-DAH! in a way that sounds more like “OR-DAH!”,

a prominent British politician who made headlines for his habit of shouting “order” in a way that sounds more like “OR-DAH!

The John Bercow I refer to is an eloquent former Speaker of the House of Commons (2009-2019) who played an important role in the British Parliament. The Speaker's job is to maintain order as the various parliamentary parties of the day come and go in the chamber, giving members permission to speak and, when appropriate, censuring more ill-advised remarks.

Bercow's time as Speaker coincidentally coincided with Britain's decision to leave the European Union, and he sat in the Speaker's seat at one of the most bad-tempered moments in Parliament's recent history. Because Britain is Britain, Birkhoff's repartee included telling red-faced and angry members of Congress, in a posh tone, “You're getting overexcited and you need to control yourself.”

Now, if you thought Brexit sucked and Truss sucked even worse, prepare for a post-apocalyptic order. Prilladog announces that Bercow will be the voice of Fallout: Prilladog has announced that Bercow will be the voice of the robot Speaker of the House of Commons in Fallout: London, and released a little video:

“Being in Fallout:London Imagine: Imagine feeling so lucky to have talented voice actors on your team in Fallout:London,” wrote Prilladog on the mod's Discord server (first spotted by VG247). But the fact that two actors from “Doctor Who” are on board as VAs adds to that: ...... And Neil Newbon has sent us a message and wants to appear.

“But who better to represent our MOD version of the Speaker of the House than the robot version? John Birkhoff himself will be voicing him.

This robotic Speaker can probably be found around the Capitol in-game. In the audio clip shared, Nuka Bercow barks “Protect and Survive” (a slogan taken from the actual British public relations campaign on nuclear war), “Error,” and of course “Order” with familiar inflection.

Sadly, by 2024, the obvious question arises, “Is this real, or is it just AI tomfoolery?”

Surprisingly for someone with such rich and fluent vocal tones, this appears to be Berkoff's first attempt at voice acting. Neil Newbon (Asterion in “Baldur's Gate 3”), joins two former Dr. Hosts: Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker.
