With next-generation GPUs like Nvidia's Blackwell-based cards rumored to be just around the corner, you may be wondering if now is a good time to buy a new graphics card. After all, if new models are coming soon, what's the point in putting money aside now when hot new silicon is likely to be available later this year?

Well, if we follow tradition, what we are likely to see in this year's GPU releases are the top two models, presumably called RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. Since mid-range and low-end cards usually take much longer to appear, it is very likely that we will not see the RTX 5070 or anything similar until this time next year.

In the meantime, there are plenty of games to play. And you will want something powerful now as a bridge until a new card comes along that may replace it, and even then you may want to skip a generation.

After all, the current midrange cards are quite good, and if you buy wisely now, they may last much longer than you think.

Furthermore, FSR 3.1 seems to be a decent improvement over previous versions, but time will tell if developers will adopt it properly; it may not be the magic bullet of DLSS, but combined with the performance here, this card I think we can expect to see it for some time to come. If I were to buy a new GPU today, it would be one of these beautiful cards. Remember, there are a lot of great games to play right now, and there are always new and exciting ones coming out. If you want to upgrade right now, I think these GPUs are your best bet.
