These Prime Day keycap and switch deals convinced me that it was time to change my all-pink, aggressively fancy keyboard.

When I first built my gaming PC and decorated the setup, I wanted everything pink; I got a Razer x Hello Kitty and Friends Deathadder, a mouse mat, and a Kraken Wireless Headset. To go along with that, I also got a Ziyou Lang 60% keyboard in pink. At the time, it was exactly what I was looking for, but a few years later, I'm pretty desperate to shake things up a bit, as the longer I sit in front of my PC, the more stagnant I feel my current style is.

Despite wanting to change the style, changing the entire look of the setup would cost money and would probably bankrupt me before I was satisfied because I feel the need to change it regularly. Luckily, things like keycaps can change the look of a keyboard without having to shell out for a new one.

For an indecisive person like me, that's a huge advantage. Fortunately, there were plenty of fun keycaps on Prime Day, especially the Cinnamoroll keycaps, which piqued my interest. For $9 off at Amazon, I can match my Sanrio accessories on hand while decorating my keyboard with adorable characters. It would also be a step away from my all-pink setup, but a step toward something cuter.

However, I find myself wondering if I should go with something a little more subdued. The Green Ombre keycap is $20 off on Amazon. However, the funky woodsy keycap, which is $5 off on Amazon, is also attractive. Having a plain design on my keys gives me some flexibility in how I decorate the rest of my desk and opens the door to broader themes, rather than being tied to a cutesy space forever.

A wood-grained or green keycap could completely change my aesthetic for the next few years.

Keycaps aren't the only thing I'm considering changing. My current keyboard is almost offensively loud. Because of the clicking blue switches, even the slightest touch makes the keyboard sound like it's banging. I like the typewriter-like sound, but I want the creamy sound of the milky yellow switches; Amazon has the milky yellow switches for $6 off, and Keychron has a set of 110 for $4 off.

I'm going to overspend on keyboard accessories, which will no doubt change come the next sale period. But at least if you can save a reasonable amount of money, you can get a Viking of caps and switches that you can combine when you get bored. It's like plastic pick and mix.
