Sony's Hero Shooter "Concord" Reveals PC System Requirements for Two Weekend Beta Tests

"Concord," a hero shooter co-developed by Firewalker Studios and Sony, was touted as "pretty cool" by Executive Editor Tyler Wild in a recent preview. Personally, I would give full credit to Tyler's assessment, but you'll have to judge for yourself if it's to your liking.

The system requirements for the PCs released today are a bit on the heavy side. My own rig could probably sneak in under the "recommended" wire, but it would be closer than I'd like - unfortunately, it's becoming more and more common as the years go by; to reach the "performance" level of 2K/60fps, a Core i7-10700K CPU and RTX 3080 GPU, and a fairly powerful rig, including a 3080 GPU, is required.

Also, since this is an online shooter, a broadband Internet connection is required.

This is a pretty heavy spec, especially if you're playing in 4K, and another concern that PC Gamer shooter Morgan Park points out is the lack of a 60+ frame rate spec. Concord is essentially a PlayStation 5 game, and the PC version of the game This is not entirely surprising, given that 60 fps is a standard target even for the PC version, but generally speaking, high frame rates are preferred over brilliant eye candy in competitive PC shooters, and hardcore players may find 60 fps a bit less than ideal may feel that 60 fps is a little less than ideal.

In a more detailed blog post, Sony confirmed that the PC version of Concord will support uncapped frame rates, ultra-wide displays, FSR 3, and DLSS 3.7. Sony said that these requirements are only for future beta testing and that final specs will be released closer to Concord's launch.

Concord's early access weekend beta will run from July 12-14 for those who pre-ordered the game, followed by an open beta from July 18-21. The full game will be released a month later on August 23.
