For some reason, "Suicide Squad" is a flop again: Season 2 postponed two days before the start of broadcast.

Back in 2016, Paul Lilly wrote one of his favorite PC Gamer headlines. Not Virtual Rock Climbing, But 'Suicide Squad:' Take on the Justice League," which put the brakes on the second season's broadcast at the last minute.

That is, at the last minute. The second season of Suicide Squad, featuring Mrs. Freeze, was scheduled to premiere on July 11, just two days from today. However, it is unlikely to make it to that date.

"Update: Task Force X adjusts release timing for next season. #SuicideSquadGame Season 2 will launch on July 25," the development team announced on Twitter.

"Thank you for your patience.

But patience is clearly running short. The replies to the tweet have been, to put it politely, negative, not only due to the delay itself, but also to a lack of communication from the developer, Rocksteady. The studio announced at the end of May that it would discontinue weekly developer updates and adopt an intermittent schedule "when there is major news about upcoming content," but with the exception of a small patch note in June and a Season 2 start date announced just five days ago, nothing has really been shared since then They haven't.

That's another problem: imposing a delay five days after announcing a release date doesn't mean the machine behind this game is running smoothly. It seems particularly egregious that this comes after a long series of snafus and misadventures, including the lack of an offline mode, the presence of Denuvo, and Warner's $200 million loss.

Not many people are currently playing "Suicide Squad," just under 500 on Steam, which is not where one wants a big-budget, live-service superhero game. However, these forced mistakes make a turnaround less likely. Frankly, if WB Games is committed to finishing the "currently announced roadmap" for Suicide Squad, I would not be at all surprised if that position changes in the not-too-distant future.

We have reached out to WB Games for more information on the reasons for the delay and will update if we hear back.
