Even after Cyberpunk 2077's little renaissance with the 2.0 patch, Night City's inhabitants don't always make the megacity feel alive. No matter how many neon outfits are adorned, there is no sense of vibrancy in a crowd unaware of anything but deadly danger. Indeed, compared to the grotesqueness of everyday life in a dystopian future, the basic nudity chart may not be so high. And finally, thanks to MistaChedda's Responsive NPCs mod, it can be.
This mod adds a system that allows crowds, gangs, and law enforcement to dynamically react to and comment on V's actions, driving, weapons, and attire. For example, streaking will cause nearby pedestrians to comment that you are a "pervert" before they try to distance themselves, or make you more noticeable to NCPD or armed NPCs. Apparently, the higher the level of cyberware, the more your nudity will make NPCs wary of you. Personally, I think someone's robotic parts are a bit less noticeable than their unprompted genitals, but maybe I'm too open-minded for the year 2077.
Clothing and visible weapons will get your attention as well. If you are carrying a heavy weapon or wearing a military uniform, you will attract a lot of attention from the people around you. This is because people generally tend to pay more attention when someone is walking around with a big gun. Realism! Similarly, if you wear gang-type clothing, you will be less noticeable to members of that gang, but your rivals in that gang will definitely be more aware of you. In addition, the mod adds a tag-based clothing response system that allows NPCs to comment on your attire.
This mod also adds behavior-based NPC reactions. Pedestrians will "aggressively dodge" your car if you honk your horn while driving on the sidewalk. Also, thanks to the disturbingly named "stalking system," NPCs will notice when you follow them and eventually run away or become so scared that they may turn hostile if armed.
Responsive NPCs are available for download on Nexus Mods, and MistaChedda's roadmap also lists features that may be added in the future, such as reactions based on V's origin and the ability to drop NCPD's wanted level by changing clothing.
