A new major update is coming to Lethal Company, adding more monsters and a van that can be used to run over entities and annoying teammates. The Company Cruiser is the first (and currently only) vehicle in the game and is the best option for transporting scrap from the facility to the ship.
V55 is currently available on the beta branch of Steam, so you can try out all the new features and report bugs and issues now. Solo developer Zeekerss said in his blog, "We will be working on improvements and fixes over the next few days until we feel that the experience is not hindered, and then we will officially release it." Enjoy!"
All of the update notes can be found here, but the best part is definitely the two new monsters and the drivable van. One of the monsters, called Barber, is a blue clay figure with comically large scissors, but what's not funny is that he tries to cut you in half with them. Also, if you are not in the blue doll's line of sight, it becomes invisible and can teleport to a random location to get closer to the player.
This may not sound scary on its own, but apparently all barbers follow the rhythm of a "leader," called the master barber, who emits parade sound effects. A snare sound usually means that they are about to attack, so if you listen carefully to the music, you should be able to predict their movements to some extent. Oh, and a word of caution: they usually move in pairs. How you use this information is up to you.
The other creature to be added is called Kidnapper Fox, and as the name implies, it does the same thing as Kidnapper Fox. This creature hides in a group of Vain Shroud (red bushes) and waits to attack the player on its own, but instead of killing it instantly, the fox will cling to the player with its tongue and drag it back to the Vain Shroud for immediate death. If you are caught by the fox, pick up your weapon as quickly as possible and hurl it at the fox.
But killing them may be easier said than done. As one player said in a Steam chat forum, "They require quite a few shovel hits to kill (maybe too many)."
I think the baboons are bad enough, so having to go into a ship and face another hostile entity that can send me to certain death sounds like a wonderfully terrifying addition to the game.
Zeekerss has been going from strength to strength lately with some of these updates. The last v50 update added a strangely adorable enemy, the blobfish-like butler, while also implementing necessary changes to running speed. As with v50, however, it will likely take a little more time to balance the new entities.
