The ultimate combination of "fear of social consequences" comes in the form of the British General Election on Roblox. It comes courtesy of the BBC and is offered as "an engaging and entertaining way to learn more about the country's elections while interacting with (the BBC's) leading political experts." Naturally, it was set up to coincide with the July 4 elections, the first time the UK has held elections since, er, three prime ministers.

In fact, the BBC's "Wonder Chase" Roblox area is a large rundown space filled with activities based on the Beeb's show, but its center has been converted into a mock-up of 10 Downing Street, with Larry the cat, the real-life Cabinet Office's chief rat catcher watches over it. Also in charge, though less dignified, are the BBC's real-life journalists Laura Kuenssberg, Clive Miley, and Jeremy Vine.

As you might imagine, despite the appearance of political heavyweights like Larry, it's all aimed at kids (or, as the BBC puts it, "Roblox viewers under 25"), who should look elsewhere to learn about the tough election climate ahead of this Thursday's election. Still, it's a cute and educational way to get young people interested in politics.

I actually took a walk around the area, and the BBC promises that if you collect the ballot boxes hidden throughout the zone, you can have Larry as your own pet at Roblox. I found a few ballot boxes, but unlike other collectibles, they did not come straight into my inventory. I had to pick them up and carry them with me. I took the boxes back to Downing Street and threw them directly at Larry's head, but nothing came of it, so I abandoned the quest.
