At $550 off, it may be the best value for a 1440p-capable gaming PC right now.

Skytech's gaming PCs often fit right in with our preferences for the wallet-friendly market segment for mainstream PC gamers: there's no "spend the extra $500 for more RGB," there's no "spend the extra $500 for more RGB," there's no "spend the extra $500 for more RGB," and there's no "spend the extra $500 for more RGB. Solid budget and mid-range builds.

This RTX 4070 Super Skytech Shadow gaming PC is one such configuration; it's currently $1,350 at Newegg, $550 (28%) off. The RTX 4070 Super on this machine is arguably the biggest selling point at this price.

While the RTX 4070 was an excellent graphics card for 1440p and some 4K gaming, the RTX 4070 Super solidifies its place in the mid-range to high-end GPU market. This graphics card had the largest increase in CUDA cores of all Super cards released this year, from 5,888 to 7,168.

Of course, it also enjoys a number of advantages offered by Nvidia, such as DLSS 3.5 and better ray tracing performance; 12GB of VRAM is a bit lower than AMD's 16GB VRAM offering, but 12GB should be sufficient for playing most of today's games at maximum settings.

This Skytech Shadow gaming PC doesn't skimp on other specs either: for $1,350, you get an Intel Core i5 14400F, 32GB DRR4 RAM (3200MHz), and a 1TB SSD. [The Core i5 14400F is basically just a 13400F with an increased boost clock. With six performance cores that can boost up to 4.6 GHz, that's all the power a low-budget gamer really needs. The 4070 Super can keep up with the latest games, and with four Efficient cores, it also has improved multithreading capabilities. [32GB (2x16GB) of RAM should be more than enough to play most of the latest games, but since this is DDR4 RAM, you won't get the blazing speed of the latest and greatest RAM sticks. I myself use 32GB of DDR4 RAM in my rig (almost as fast as the 3,200MHz stick on this machine) and have confirmed that DDR4 is still perfectly adequate for modern gaming. [Because what it sacrifices in terms of memory is more than made up for by the RTX 4070 Super's underwhelming performance, which rivals the previous generation's top-of-the-line RTX 3080 Ti. At well under $1,500, Skytech is offering a solid deal, and the PC gamers will be well served by the toothless stuff.

Of course, you'll also want to check out the range of offerings in Amazon's Prime Day gaming PC sale; Amazon is not strong on the whole PC assembly, but other retailers will join in on the fun and offer discounts.
