Brainiac was right: the Freeze is coming to Suicide Squad: next week, "Take down the Justice League! The Freeze will appear in

Five months after Brainiac leaked the secret, Rocksteady admitted that Mrs. Freeze would headline the second season of Suicide Squad: Bring on the Justice League

That's right, not Mr. Freeze as we had assumed, but Mrs. Freeze, aka Nora Freeze, wife of DC's most chilling villain. She was instrumental in the creation of her husband's supervillain persona. His efforts to cryogenically preserve her until he could find a cure for her terminal illness led to the lab accident that turned him into Mr. Freeze, and although Nora was eventually cured, she then became a supervillain herself. Oops! Given the multiverse setting of Suicide Squad, the characters in the game may differ somewhat or completely from that history. [Personally, I would have preferred to bring out the true Mr. Freeze, Otto Preminger, as he is.

Anyway, along with Mrs. Freeze, the second season of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will include new gear and gear sets, new maps, incursions, and of course new battle paths.

The second season of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League! 's second season comes as the game continues to struggle to find players. There are currently fewer than 500 people playing on Steam, and that number has skyrocketed in recent weeks: through most of June, the number of simultaneous players remained below 300.

This has led to speculation that WB Games might pull out of the game altogether, but in June the publisher promised to finish out the game's "currently announced roadmap." That means three more seasons (including this one) with three new playable characters and other content.

However, it seems highly unlikely that anything more than that will be forthcoming. Suicide Squad is a huge loss for Warner, and it is unlikely that the cost of ongoing development and support will be justified by the paltry player count. The game is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, so Steam numbers are not the whole story, but Warner specifically blamed "Suicide Squad" in February for "putting the gaming business in a tough spot in the first quarter year over year." Given that, it is reasonable to assume that things are not looking good on these platforms either.

But for those who have played and enjoyed the game, more developments are coming soon: season 2 of "It's Mrs. Freeze and the Rest of the Suicide Squad: Take Down the Justice League" will be released on July 11.
