Bungie patches unknown exploit, but players think it has something to do with AFK loot farm in Crucible private matches.

Bungie was as quick as ever to patch the exploit in Destiny 2's Crucible Private Match.

Gaming YouTuber Cheese Forever discovered the hack and released a video yesterday explaining how players can take advantage of it. It basically just explains how to set up a solo crucible private match, and if you enable certain settings, you can adjust the length of the match to one minute and the drops you get for winning. The default is just glimmer, but if you go to the last slot in the ghost mod, you can choose between world drop and red border prosper, upgrade module to modular, prism to prism harvest, and finally core to core harvest. This will give you a wider selection of items you can farm.

A few hours later, Bungie's help Twitter account said: "Due to an issue, we have disabled rewards for Crucible Private Matches." The reply at the top is actually the one Cheese Forever linked to in the video above, simply saying, "This is why it was disabled." it seems that not all of the exploits Cheese Forever mentions have been patched, but it is possible that the Survival Match, alone or solo players are no longer allowed to participate in team deaths, and winning with AFK is no longer possible.

One player is upset that even though people are sharing exploits, they are fixed almost immediately: "I appreciate that you have been sharing this knowledge for so long, but it is because we share it that it always gets patched. If we could keep this information to ourselves and chat with each other, we could enjoy this stuff longer."

It is very clear that Destiny players feel the need to resort to exploits and pharming to get what they want from the game. One player noted in the comments: "A lot of people want to do this kind of thing to upgrade their weapons and play the game further."

But if you like to take advantage of exploits, unfortunately, you have to look for other exploits; it is unclear if the Cheese Forever video is the cause of the patch, but the timing of a few hours is interesting. There are also several comments below the video inferring how quickly Bungie intends to fix all the issues being talked about, with one user telling us that the patch has in fact been applied: "The patch has been hit. Post this economy farm at night."

Cracking down on farming and exploits is not out of the ordinary for Bungie, and developers have addressed these issues many times before. In Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, the infamous Shattered Throne dungeon's There was an exploit in the notorious AFK farm "The Thrallway" that gave players exorbitant amounts of XP, glimmer, and engrams.
