When it comes to inexpensive gaming monitors, there's usually something that catches your eye. The Gigabyte G27Q, however, is different. It's a high-resolution 1440p panel for only $200.

This Gigabyte ticks so many boxes: 1440p at 144Hz on a 27-inch panel is definitely the sweet spot for truly affordable real-world gaming right now. In addition, the Gigabyte G27Q features an IPS panel that delivers excellent responsiveness, color accuracy, and viewing angles.

However, there is usually some snag with these affordable monitors. Typically it comes in the form of disappointing brightness ratings of around 250 nits and no HDR support.

However, the Gigabyte G27Q is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, with a minimum brightness of 400 nits. Of course, local dimming is not available at this price. However, according to Rtings, 500 nits can be achieved consistently in HDR mode.

Also measured was a nice low latency. Furthermore, the build quality and design is decent, with a properly adjustable stand included, not just a cheap tilt, and the chassis looks like it was made from pressed factory floor sweepings.

Overall, it's great to get a gaming monitor with such specs for so little money. And if you can get a panel like this for such a price, it clearly shows that 1440p is very important to GPU manufacturers (we're looking at you Nvidia) for mainstream and entry-level gaming.

In that light, a 1080p-optimized GPU at $350-$400 makes absolutely no sense. Anyway, this rant aside, if you are looking for a nice 1440p gaming panel, this Gigabyte is a good candidate.
