After 1,070 deaths, about 100 hours, and one therapy session, streamer Kai Cenat finally defeated "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree".

Kai Cenat's addiction to From Software's "Elden Ring" is rather recent, as the popular streamer beat the base game early last month after a 24-hour battle with 1,700 deaths and Malenia. Now, after 1,070 deaths and just under 100 hours of play, he has once again played the DLC and delivered it like an emotional Truman Show.

Kai Cenat takes an impressively brutal approach to his stream. Instead of starting and stopping his stream when he wanted to jump in and out of the game he was playing, he streamed for almost 100 hours while gaming or sleeping. The setup is also pretty tough, with things like the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones, a life-size statue of Melania, red drapes, golden candelabras, and stone pillars. So much so that Kai Senat had to undergo a brief therapy session in his darkest moment, when he was about to fight the raspberry.

"Don't dwell on the feeling of defeat," the therapist says, "because you will continue to feel defeated. The therapist says." Go outside and play with your friends." The conversation continues with positive affirmations and sound advice for understanding the situation. Honestly, having a therapist listen to me and give me the reality check I need when I'm playing the From Software game would definitely help me in my darkest moments.

Such reactions to "Shadow of the Erdtree" are not at all uncommon. Many players are having a hard time with this DLC, with some complaining about its difficulty level as Steam reviews drop to "Mixed" status.

The DLC is a definite step up from the base game, with boss fights being less forgiving and in some cases forcing players to use certain builds as certain tactics and weapons begin to clearly outperform others. While the use of shields is almost mandatory in the DLC, many will find that they do not play as big a role in a player's success in the base game.

In short, defeating Shadow of the Erdtree is a great achievement, and one that Senath's fans clearly respect. 'I think I've died 40-50 times to Radahn. One player said in a Reddit thread. Another player added, "The reason I like the game of Souls is that it shows you that you can do what you set out to do as long as you don't give up."

While FromSoftware games certainly teach resilience and dedication in a brutal way, after the recent patch for "Shadow of the Erdtree," the DLC doesn't seem as difficult as it used to be. Plus, there are always mods to make the game easier when you're really stuck. Or, in the words of Kai Senat, "Put on your big boy pants, get out there, and go fight."
