The fallout from Dr. Disrespect's admission that his lifetime ban from Twitch was the result of inappropriate communication with a minor continues today with reports that the streamer's name will be removed from NBA 2K24 in an upcoming patch. Organizations such as TurtleBeach and the San Francisco 49ers have also confirmed that they have terminated their relationships with streamers.

Dr. Disrespect (real name Guy Beahm) was one of the biggest streamers on Twitch when he was banned from Twitch in 2020. The reason for the ban was unclear until earlier this week: after a former Twitch employee claimed that "sexting minors" through Twitch's "Whispers" messaging system was the cause of his ban, Beahm himself said that "casual and mutual conversations, sometimes taking an inappropriate It sometimes leaned too far, but nothing more than that."

While downplaying the content of the conversation, he admitted that this was the case.

Beahm did not clarify whether he knew that the other party was a minor at the time of their conversation. In any case, his efforts to minimize the situation probably did not work out as he had hoped. The backlash on social media only intensified, and several companies officially terminated their relationships with him.

First to cut him off was Midnight Society, the game studio he co-founded in 2021, which announced on June 24 that, after an investigation, it was "terminating its relationship with Guy Beahm immediately."

This was actually one day before Beahm's confession, but the dominoes have been falling rapidly ever since: a series of Turtle Beach gaming peripherals, including Dr Disrespect-branded headsets, keyboards, and mice, were removed from the company website, and Turtle Beach confirmed in a statement provided to PC Gamer that it "will not continue its partnership with Guy Beahm/DrDisRespect."

The National Football League's San Francisco 49ers, who began a promotional relationship with Beahm in 2022, also severed ties, telling SFGate, "We are taking these situations seriously and will not be working with him in the future."

Earlier today, Dexerto reported that Beahm will also be removed from NBA 2K24 in a future patch. Later, a 2K representative clarified in a statement to PC Gamer that "the player animation named Dr Disrespect will be renamed in the next patch in August."

The website of Beahm's 2022 company Black Steel Bourbon has also been taken offline, although there is no clear connection to Beahm's admission of inappropriate communication with minors.

Dr Disrespect Champion's Club's website - essentially a place to purchase merchandise - has also had content removed and now jumps directly to a customer service form for order inquiries. 25, all content was present.
