After 24 years, you can finally pet a dog in "Deus Ex" thanks to the comprehensive Randomizer MOD!

Deus Ex's Randomizer mod has always been more than just a randomizer: its QoL features, mod compatibility, and customization options make it a one-stop store for keeping Ion Storm's classic fresh. ahead of Deus Ex's 24th birthday release, the Randomizer 3.0 update adds even more features that will appeal to everyone, not just challenge runners.

Yes, you can now pet this cyberpunk RPG's delightfully low-resolution dogs, as well as cats and pigeons in the mean streets of New York, Hong Kong, and Gay Parry. I haven't had a chance to load the new update myself to see if this love extends to Deus Ex's many rats, but I can always turn one around in my head to help me focus. [The "augmentation tree," similar to the weapon wheel on a console FPS, makes up for the lack of function keys when pausing the game to select augmentation power-ups while in use. If your keyboard is at 70% or less, even a full keyboard would be more comfortable than selecting from the function row. God put these keys there for quick save and load.

Landamizer has long offered a password autofill option. When you find a password in the world, instead of having to remember it and type it in, you simply select it on the associated terminal or keypad. I like the tactile passwords and door codes of the old immersive sims, but this is a real drag on the touchscreen keyboards on deck. With these bugs worked out, OG Deus Ex on the go feels more like an engaging way to play the game than a novelty.

Speaking of novelties, there's been another big addition to the Deus Ex Randomizer since we last checked: the WaltonWare mode. An adaptation of the legendary chaos game WarioWare, this mode spawns players at random points in the Deus Ex campaign and tasks them with filling out a single line on the Randomizer's procedurally generated in-game bingo card. The objectives are as follows:

The flexibility of the Randomizer is impressive, offering everything from a slightly refined version of the Deus Ex experience to a manic 15-20 minute bingo "play-through" that takes advantage of the game's potential for systematic slapstick It is also compatible with mods such as Lay D Denton and Revision, which are designed to make the best of the modern version of Deus Ex. Deus Ex Randomizer is available on GitHub or on co-creator Die4Ever's website Mod4Ever.
