It would take a lot of effort to get Tim Cain, the OG of Fallout, to return to the series.

With the success of the new show bringing "Fallout" back into the spotlight, Tim Cain, lead developer of the original game, has been speaking out on his YouTube channel about various aspects of the series. while "Fallout" is clearly still an important work for him, Cain did not seem eager to return to the series when responding to repeated inquiries from viewers.

"There are a lot of questions being asked out there," Cain said, "do you want to remake Fallout as a 3D game?" or "do you want to make an offshoot of Fallout like Fallout: New Vegas ..... . do you want to make Fallout 5? Whatever his thoughts on each possibility, Cain made it clear that he is not worried about authority, creative freedom, or, of course, salary within reason. Cain explained that his main motivation, especially now that he is semi-retired, is his own interest in the project.

"'TLDW' does: every RPG I've ever made has given me something new."

"The game itself offered something interesting and made me think, 'Oh, I want to do this, I've never done this before.'"

There is a strand to his projects, but it is certainly an eclectic spread: "Fallout," "The Temple of Elemental Evil," "South Park," "The Stick of Truth Elemental Evil", "South Park: The Stick of Truth", and "The Outer Worlds". It should be noted that "Fallout 2," the only direct sequel Cain worked on that left pre-production, was not a project he wanted to pursue and left development before completion.

"If somebody came to me and said, 'Do you want to make a Fallout game? My answer is this. Cain said of the hypothetical: "If you didn't even want to make Fallout 2, why would you want to make a new Fallout game?"

While money is certainly an objective for Cain, he explained that the novelty and excitement of the project, Fallout or not, is what drives him: the first question out of my mouth is, "What's new about it?" It is.

But while it may be difficult to impress one of the inventors of "Fallout" with new ideas for "Fallout," Cain seems to be undertaking several new game projects that excite him.
