After a hiatus due to Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring's Seamless Co-op module has already been revived with support for an expanded version.

Elden Ring's Seamless Co-op mod, which was temporarily malfunctioning with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, is now available in an expanded version. Yesterday, in response to a message from mod creator Luke Yui, Seamless Co-op Discord moderator Dalvik wrote that the mod "is now ready to be used for co-op play with Elden Ring and DLC, although not completely."

From Software's unique co-op implementation is perfect if you need to get a stranger or friend into the game to help you conquer a boss, but Elden Ring's open world and disconnections upon death or boss destruction make it cumbersome to experience the game from start to finish with a friend. Seamless Co-op solves that and is a no-fuss, no muss, impressively polished solution. Seamless Co-op bypasses Easy AntiCheat and runs in a separate .exe with its own save and its own server. Once you move to a friend's instance with a simple password match system, you stay there until you are ready to leave.

The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC altered the game enough to require a major update of the mod by Luke Yui. It should be noted that all seamless co-op saves from previous versions of the game will still work and can be brought into the DLC, and that seamless co-op now supports optional invasions for the first time.

In a conversation with PCG Senior Editor Wes Fenlon, Dalvik also outlined other improvements included in this update: thanks to a more modular way of building mods, gestures and items acquired in conversations will now be updated to all players are now updated correctly, and everyone in the instance can load into the optional Evergaol boss encounters together.

I was concerned that the new "scud tree shards" system would disrupt seamless co-op, but according to Dalvik, FromSoft handled Luke Yuy with relative ease: "The DLC has many new mechanics, interesting edge cases, and fundamental code changes. Fortunately, the scud tree debris and spirit ashes are very localized and do not require special synchronization."

You can download the latest version of Seamless Co-op from the Eldenring Nexus and take on the Land of Shadows with a friend in tow.

Luke Yui noted on Discord that some of the early downloads of Seamless Co-op did not have critical files due to errors in the Nexus. Also, the new version of Seamless Co-op includes new items to activate online features, and you must rest at Site of Grace to receive them.
