After accidentally releasing its Beyond Good & Evil remaster, Ubisoft accidentally announced it

Update: In what looks like a mistake, Ubisoft has announced that BG & E20Th Anniversary Edition will be a hit on all platforms with June25 (Via Wario64). After accidentally releasing the game, the studio seemed to go ahead and accidentally announced it. it won't change, ubi.

Original Story: My God, I think it might be happening. Against all odds, against all precedents, against all senses, I may be gearing up for Ubisoft to release Beyond Good and evil games

Not beyond good and evil 2, mind you. There is no heaven. We will see it only some time after the end of the star age. But it looks like Eve and Co are preparing the way for the release of Beyond Good and Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition, a souped-up remaster of the original 2003 classic, is set to coincide with the 21st anniversary, you know.

As I say this, the Beyond Good and Evil Twitter account is making fun of some kind of announcement about a remaster at the Limited Run Game Showcase (broadcast today at 11AM PT/2pm ET/7pm BST) and says, "Uncle Pey'j has a message to share with you."As if that wasn't enough, the original BG&E was quietly delisted on Steam. "At the request of the publisher, it is not listed on the Steam store beyond good and evil and does not appear in the search," reads the notice where the buy button once sat.

So, Ubisoft is getting ready to announce the release date of the BG&E Remaster, or perhaps to fully release the game at a limited run event.

If you're wondering why Ubisoft didn't put this under wraps as a surprise to BG&E fans, well, it's a good idea. It tried. It actually worked really hard, but blew away thoroughly when it accidentally released the game to ubisoft+ subscribers on May 11 last year. It yanked the game back from their hands and tried to scrub all traces from the Internet, but the damage was already done: eventually, Ubisoft just threw a towel and said it had more information "in early 2024".

Classic BG&E Fashion looks very tasty When to get "More information" in 2024 Can you tell me what made you think hi? The original game is one of my favorites and I'll happily take a sophisticated version that will run better on modern systems. Plus, I'd like to know what Ubisoft has been doing since the 11th month. Some of the videos and screens that were leaked last year looked a bit ropy, but the studio promised it was far from complete. If you're lucky, take another look at today's remastered and everything will look much better.

My only complaint is that Ubisoft has decided to remove the original list. Sure, thousands of us already have it, but making those classics easy to buy is important for preservation. I can't really imagine that the little janky original game would end up cannibalizing too many sales of the 20Th Anniversary Edition, so delisting makes it feel petty and shortsighted. Oh well, at least you can still get it on GOG, at least for now.
