General
Treyarch is going back to its roots with "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6" and doing a great job with the round-based zombie mode.

Black Ops 6's Deep Dive, which aired right after yesterday's Xbox Games Showcase, was full of new information about the upcoming Call of Duty: not only will it time warp to the 90s, but it will also add a new sink or swim feature called Omni-Movement. But the best news, in my opinion, is that zombies will return to the traditional round-based format.

According to a blog post on Call of Duty, there will be two new round-based zombie maps, Terminus and Liberty Falls, as well as continuing the "Dark Ether" storyline begun in Black Ops Cold War. I've always enjoyed the cosmic horror that alternate dimensions give to zombies, so it will be cool to see them return following the open-world zombies of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3." [In addition to the two new maps, Treyarch says there are "new and returning power-ups, insurgent molecules standing in their way, and a host of secrets and Easter eggs to discover." Zombies will also feature all the new movement features and visual and audio upgrades mentioned in the showcase. This will allow players to move "more realistically" and hopefully make movement easier. Treyarch also hinted at new "zombie-specific additions," but said that more information on these will be released in the next week.

My favorite CoD zombies have always been Black Ops 2, with iconic maps like Bus Depot, Mob of the Dead, and Origins.

Modern Warfare 3's open-world zombies weren't bad with some cool enemies like the returning mimics, but I didn't think it was worth the price and I missed the rounds. I loved taking on hordes of undead with my friends and would aim for the higher rounds every time, but most of us stuck close by as one outcast would just die on the other side of the map and run off saying he could take down every single one of them by himself.

So, while I'm still scratching my head over friends screaming for revives, I'm pretty excited about what Treyarch is trying to do with the next CoD Zombies, especially now that I know they are going back to a round-based format
