The Fan-made Fallout 2 first-person remake is currently being worked on by more than 100 developers and is targeting Steam releases while making "fast progress

The upcoming fan-made Fallout 2 remake (known as Project Arroyo), thanks to more than 100 developers, is clearly "fast progressing" according to project leader Damion Daponte, and there's also a new concept art and trailer to watch if that's not enough news for you .

Recently, Daponte discussed the progress of Project Arroyo in an interview with Gamer and how the team will release it when it's ready. "I'm inclined to do what Enderal: Forgotten Stories (Skyrim's mod with a similar purpose) did and put it on Steam," says Daponte. It is easy to access, easy to update and easy to install. It's just more efficient."

But it's not as easy as putting it on steam. The team working on Project Arroyo needs to make sure that everything is in order so that there are no legal issues. This is because Project Arroyo uses Fallout4's creation engine to reimagine Fallout 2 in Bethesda's first-person style.

"We have to figure out all the idiosyncrasies on [Steam], so we have to get Fallout 2 and Fallout 4 and all their DLC and make sure there are no legal issues, but we'll see — we're still looking into it. I personally lean to steam.

Daponte also discussed whether this means seeing Project Arroyo on the Steam deck. To be honest, I don't even know if the mods will work well on Steam decks. Ask your friends

If you look at Project Arroyo's Twitter account, you can also see a lot of new concept art, including Oakland Crater, a landscape of 1 new custom location. Filled with some nefarious-looking green liquid, there are also some cool mockups of weapons called powerfists that make this crater look like a small town in the hustle and bustle, even though it's raining down radioactive goo falls, but this means that if you get attacked by it, it will definitely be a mashup.

But if concept art is not enough now, you can also look at the side-by-side comparison between the original Fallout 2 and the upcoming mod. You can do it. This short YouTube video shows off tons of places like test temples, hunting grounds and villages, and fluorescent green poisonous caves. It's impressive to see how well the team recreated the original gritty atmosphere into a 3D first-person experience. Project Arroyo doesn't have a release date yet, but you can keep up with the official Reddit progress.
