Summer GameFest will focus on existing games, so don't hype yourself up for "games that have been there for years and years," says Geoff Keighley

In the wake of the demise of E3, Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest emerged as a self-appointed heir. The SGF live stream over the past few years has brought big livery like the Elden Ring gameplay in 2021.According to Keighley, we need to expect more such things this year. That is, it is not a Rivley to smash the Earth of the game without notice, but a trailer or announcement related to the game you already know. Keighley recently jumped into a Twitch Q&a session for some "expectation setting" for this year's presentation. According to Keighley, the 2-hour showcase will show a lot of trailers, but will mainly consist of "existing games with new updates for fans" - new content from games released, or trailers for games already announced. "This isn't a show like many, like 'Coming in 2026' or '2027', or a teaser of a game from years ago," Keighley said. We already know some of what we'll see at SGF on Friday — I'm always looking forward to more Monster Hunter Wilds previews — and Keighley said, "Definitely, there will be new announcements" even if they haven't revealed the blockbuster. . Maybe if the stars were aligned, we'd be lucky enough for the back-to-back Nic cage look. Anything can happen if you dare to dream. Keighley was pretty forthright to say that if you're looking for a giant surprise announcement, you're likely to find them in Keighleyverse's other tentpole: The Game Awards are the summer and as a result, Keighley said the Game Awards "usually have a lot of big surprises", but the SGF "focuses primarily on what's announced." He said."Fortunately, if you're worried you're hungry for a preview of the game, there are plenty of other showcases running throughout the week. Check out SGF2024's schedule to see the full preview event lineup, including the PC game show that airs on 6/9 (Sun) at 1pm (JST).
