"It's our way of making a statement in the face of targeted harassment": Tales of Kenzera: Director Zaw lowers the price of the game with a switch

Tales of Kenzera: Abubakar Salim, director and creator of Zau and founder of Surgical Studios, has spoken out over the past few days and has made several statements addressing the bloated harassment around the studio and its new game.

"So I didn't want to deal with this, but we're here now," Salim said in a short video uploaded to social media. During this time, he describes how his accomplishments have diminished over and over, "I had to ignore people saying it wasn't a job that took me the opportunity, no, it was simply because I'm black, and I turned the other cheek and just kept doing my thing." But while some of these comments, some of them, you can just brush off, it's a constant barrage of them, so

he continues to say that the vortex of harassment around Zaw is "being continually targeted by people who view diversity as a threat.""This comes amid a variety of harassment campaigns targeting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the gaming industry.

"There's always a reason why diverse stories can't exist," Salim says. "We're either doing it the wrong way or just tick the box."Rather than trying to build these exclusive walls, Salim says that he and no one else have a problem with their story and expression and that the characters in the game don't look like you,

"I really believe the game is for everyone," Salim continues. "That's why I set the cost of Zau at the price of pizza. So I'm going to put my money where my mouth is."Following this video, the price of the switch's Zau has been lowered, making the entry bar more accessible to those who want to play. So far, it has not been mentioned that prices are being lowered on other platforms, but this could be due to behind-the-scenes complexity.

Salim has since said, "It's our way of making statements in the face of targeted harassment." It's a miracle we were able to act on this right away. It is mainly thanks to the efforts and support of many people on our side and on the publishing side."Changing prices can be 'hard to adjust', especially if Surgical Studios needs to comply with their business responsibilities and respect their partners."

Tales of Kenzera: Zau is a solid metroid vanya, and our reviews rate it a respectable 73. While it may be a bit light on exploration, vibrant locations, beautiful stories, funny characters and creative puzzle solving are definitely worth checking out.
