Ducky Year of the Dragon Limited edition is a drooling face emoji in the form of a keyboard

Ducky makes some beautiful keyboards, but this might take the top spot for me. A limited edition commemorating the Year of the Dragon, only 999 will be sold. However, it can be stolen with Computex2024.

The most immediately noticeable feature of this keyboard should be the keycap. These are composite designs — the legend of PBT in the middle is surrounded by transparent polycarbonate around the sides. The result is a floating keycap that you shouldn't wear too much at the top but looks absolutely gorgeous.

Also, the box comes with two extra keycaps, and I mean extra in the sense that they're 3D effect keycaps.

Under each key is a tactile cherry purple key switch. If you're not familiar with it, it's one of Cherry's new MX2A switches 1. The board is also hot-swappable.

The underside of this keyboard is where things get really interesting. The shell of this keyboard is the same as the ducky Outlaw65, a do-it-yourself keyboard kit I've fiddled with before. Unlike outlaws, the year of the Dragon keyboard is pre-assembled.

The shell is a heavy block of anodized aluminum and it came with its own challenges in trying to detail the look of this board with its fantastic dragon motif.

"So with normal anodizing technology, it can only do one color," Erik, a Ducky representative, tells me.

"The full color [anodizing] we are trying to do is that we can use 1 plate in different layers, different patterns.

In the upper right corner of the booth, there is an image that Ducky is using for the "soaring Dragon" pattern. I think it has definitely done justice to it with the finished keyboard, too.

The price was not confirmed by Ducky, but some keyboard pre-orders available online listed it to be around9,290NT (about 2 287USD). However, it may be a limited release in Asia.
