Asked if Grand Theft Auto 6 will be on PC, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says Rockstar will "announce more in due time."

Earlier this month, Grand Theft Auto6's release date was narrowed to Fall 2025, but there is still no confirmation as to whether the game will launch on a PC. Indeed, the PC version issue was recently raised to take on Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. His reaction was typically cryptic, but it seems to suggest that Rock Star's highly anticipated sequel will eventually arrive on the platform.

As reported by the Vgc, Zelnick was interviewed at the TD Cowen conference and was asked if the lack of announcement was set in stone. Initially, Zelnick dances around the question and instead focuses on minor points about whether it's possible to make sure there's no announcement.

"The lack of announcement is not something that can be set in stone as close as I can say," he said. "The only thing that happens after the lack of announcement is the announcement, so I guess, or is the continued lack of announcement. I also think it can happen. It doesn't seem to me that either will be set to stone.

The rest of his answer was a bit straightforward. Or at least, not indirect. "Rock Stars have an approach to the platform we've seen before and they'll make a lot of announcements within the deadline," he continued. "The right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and what this company has historically done is to be where the consumer is, and also "Basically, Zelnick is telling people to look at the pattern. Going back to Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar always released the game on the console first and later brought it to the PC. Zelnick has previously discussed why this is so, explaining that Rockstar doesn't have a hard and fast strategy when porting games to PCs on May 12 last year. "It depends on the vision the creative team has for the title," he said. "We might bring it in its original form, we did it, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake it, so it really shows how the title and label feel about it, the platform, and how we use it for our customers." It depends on what you think is an opportunity for you."

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Rockstar will treat the pc version of the game as a separate project, take what's built for a proven console and see what you can get from the more advanced and diverse PC hardware to determine how best to approach the PC port.

This does not guarantee that GTA6 will come to PC — Rockstar skipped the original Red Dead Redemption platform, while Zelnick is talking about future announcements, but it seems likely that GTA6 will eventually arrive on the platform. Unless they're going to announce that they're not announcing it, of course. But Zelnick doesn't seem to think that's possible.
