Twitch is replacing members of the Safety Advisory Council for Twitch Ambassadors

Twitch has replaced many of the experts who had previously joined the Safety Advisory Council with Twitch ambassadors, but who this is and whether they will be paid for.

Originally formed in 2020, this council, which consists of 9 industry experts, moderators and streamers, is designed to protect nudity, banned users, and privacy. They consulted and provided advice on trust and safety issues related to children and others. "We are made up of online safety experts and Twitch creators who have a deep understanding of Twitch, its content, and the community," said the Twitch overview page. "Each member of the Council is carefully selected based on their familiarity with the Twitch community and relevant personal and professional experience."

Members include Emma Llansó, Director of the Free Expression Project, Dr. Sameer Hinduja, co-director of the Center for Cyberbullying Research, and Zizaran, Twitch partner. But Twitch no longer seems to need their expertise.

CNBC looked at the emails sent to members and said, "Going forward, the Safety Advisory Council will primarily consist of individuals acting as Twitch ambassadors. Pursuant to Section 5(a) of the SAC Advisor Agreement, we have written in writing to provide you with notice of termination. This means that in 2024 the 2nd payment will not be issued.

Twitch confirmed that it fired more than 500 employees earlier this year, which was on top of the previous round of 2023 layoffs of more than 400. According to a Twitch blog post, this is clearly "because the organization is still bigger than it needs to be.""So these departures are not entirely out of the blue, especially twitch co to CNBC whether the new members will receive any pay for this work, but in a statement to CNBC, "the new Council members had said that they could provide a fresh and diverse perspective." This format allows you to draw even more voices and perspectives.

It's not yet clear how this new council will work and who will participate in it, but hopefully the recent controversy that this change is seen on Twitch so much in protecting the site has led to hot tub meta reaching new heights and pokies as streamers began using their bodies as green screens. Manet has announced that he will leave the site for "so much more manosphere, red pill bullshit"."
