More than half of Helldivers2's sales are made on PCs in the US: "Sony's published game, which is already the 7th highest-earning in history."

When Helldivers2 was launched on May 2, Sony decided to try something different. This prompted developer Arrowhead Game Studios to launch a PlayStation-published co-op shooter on both PS5 and PC, rather than the publisher's usual tactic of making PC ports three to four years after the PlayStation version.

Enjoying Helldivers2Steam as a top seller for 3 consecutive months suggests that Sony's first simultaneous launch was a huge success, but so far, we have no idea what the PC version of Helldivers2 looks like compared to the PS5.

After all, Helldivers2 is bigger on US PCs in terms of money coming in. That's according to Mat Piscatella, an industry analyst at Circana (formerly NPD Group) who shared some insights on Twitter from the official sales information provided by Sony.

"PC is a big part of Helldivers2's success in the US," Piscatella writes. "On PC, Helldivers II is already the 7th highest-earning Sony published game in history. Without a PC, it is not currently ranked in the top 20."

In a follow-up email with PC Gamer, Piscatella added that "more than half of the volume in the US dollar comes from the PC version.""

This is a nonspecific way to say that Helldivers2 made more money on a PC than a PlayStation in the US. However, it's important to note that Circana's data includes only the sale of the entire game and not the sale of "add-on content", so it probably does not take into account the purchase of premium warbond and super Credits. Technically, more people may be buying super credits on the PS5, and that could fill the gap in terms of dollars, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Piscatella declined to specify whether the PlayStation-released game Helldivers2 is selling at its number Seven spot, but PC Gamer said it was "ranked 3 Marvel Spider-Man titles, 2 God of War titles, and Ghosts of Tsushima.""

It's an impressive company no matter how you spin it. Only Sony games that made more money than Helldivers2 cost more20-more30 to buy, in some cases, six years against three months of Helldivers. That said, Helldivers2 has had greater success in the US than The Last of Us or Horizon games. There's no reason to doubt that Helldivers2 will continue to climb that list, especially given that it's still in the top 10 Steam games by revenue when I'm writing this

This is the power of PC. As Piscatella put it in the same Twitter thread, "Launching Helldivers2 on both PlayStation and PC was nothing more than a massive and huge success."

So Sony will probably have to make these simultaneous releases more often, right" Back in May, just a few days after the release of Helldivers2, Sony President Hiroki Tohki will make the company's PC debut The next PlayStation monopoly will appear this month: The Ghost of Tsushima in 2020 will appear on Steam and Epic on 5/16.
