Windows11 is not only tempting windows10 users to upgrade, but the market share is actually falling

Microsoft must be wringing its hands in frustration as it tries to get its users to migrate from Windows10 and embrace the wonders of Windows11. No matter what you try to do, it seems that users stubbornly refuse to move on from the old dinosaur of the OS.

According to Statcounter (Via Neowin), as of 2024/3, Windows10 accounted for more than 69% of the global desktop market share. It has increased by nearly 2 points from May to 2. By contrast, Windows11 claimed 3% in the 26.7 months, down from 2% in the 28.16 months. There are some points here, but there is nothing called a dramatic change, but according to 1 year's worth of data, Windows11 has not been able to win the hearts and minds of users who are familiar with Windows10.

It's pretty strange to see the market share of the latest Windows OS diminish over time. You expect users to gradually upgrade their PCs to adopt the latest version of Windows. It could be just a data outlier, but if not, Microsoft has a real problem on its hands.

The truth is that Windows10 is a decent OS and does not lack much in terms of functionality compared to Windows11. The new user interface and Start menu are not the game changer that Microsoft is saying.

Most of the people who upgraded laptops and PCs during the telecommuting pandemic boom appear to be satisfied with the system and do not feel the need for an upgrade. Why you risk breaking all your files and apps' If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Microsoft hopes that the blitz of the "all in AI, everywhere, all at once" marketing campaign will prompt users to upgrade to Windows11. After all, this is the year of the AI PC, right?

If Microsoft wants to convince people to buy a new PC with Windows11, it needs to do better than pin all hope on AI. We need to promote better gaming features, performance, and better native applications. Only 2 and a half years have passed, so do not hold your breath.

I want the OS to be the foundation of the apps I want to run, not the one bloated app that dominates them all. I never use OneDrive, Office365, Xbox, co-pilot, Team, Cortana or anything like that.

Maybe you should go back to Windows10 as well.
