These 2 SSDs are so good that I use them myself, and both are discounted at this Amazon Gaming Week

Fast and capacious SSDs may not be as cheap as they used to be, but on some great drives, we're still finding strange problems. As Amazon Gaming Week sales continue, we've found 2 of the best gaming SSD picks at a price worth seriously considering. Not only are they great drives, they also gave the impression that we use them on personal machines.

First of all, there's the WD Black SN850X, which comes in aTB140 2TB configuration on Amazon. With 7,300MB/s and 6,350MB/s read/write speeds respectively, this is an SSD that can keep its head high among the fastest Gen4 drives, but what really stands out from the pack is its all-rounder credentials.

Not only is it fast, but here, in the format of 2TB, large enough for Windows installations and many modern games — the SN850X is also cool, gentle and collected and is what you need if you plan to use it as the main system drive.

You can pay a significant additional fee for the heat sink-covered version, but when I tested the 1TB variant of this SSD, I found that it wasn't really needed. It is a cold customer and has all the speed and write durability (600TB in this case) to ensure that you continue trucking in your system

In fact, m'colague Nick Evanson owns four of these drives and values them very high and it is backed for good measurement. Return, front to back,

The Lexar NM790 is a budget drive that we've liked for a while now, and it's surprisingly affordable thanks to a combination of ultra-fast performance. I found the 1TB version on Amazon for less thanム72, but at that price it's the cheapest way to bring fast Gen4 storage into your system right now. This drive may not have the capacity of the SN850X above, but in terms of speed it can pip to post with a read rating of 7,400MB/s and a write of 6,500MB/s. That made it a top performer and when we reviewed the 4TB model, we were intensely impressed with the results.

Like the WD drive, the Lexar also works cool, but this particular model comes with a relatively slim heatsink. Its great performance is down to a little-known controller, the MaxioTech MAP1602A, but don't let the brand put you off. NM790 is seriously a quick drive, and with a maximum write durability rating of 1000TB should go even distance, and then some.

I actually use a 2TB variant of this drive as my main SSD and it does nothing while I regularly put it through that pace, but provides the best performance with a nary peep of complaints. If you want to boost capacity from the 1TB model, a 2TB version without a heat sink is available on Amazon forAmazon140.

So, go there. Two of our top class SSDs for a very attractive price. It is true that modern drives are not as cheap as before, but these 2 beauties prove that you can still find a significant amount with excellent storage. Not only that, but both are more than happy drives that we use for ourselves.
