Nvidia, which has experienced the Tekken 8 crash, has acknowledged an ongoing driver bug on the 10 Series card

Tekken 8, I have been told, is a very good fighting game. My reflexes are old and haggard by now, so I don't know much about this kind of thing, as anything that requires fast-paced control can get beaten up by a well-trained dog licking the buttons of a command. Sigh.

Anyway, what I know is the Nvidia GeForce driver update, and the latest release notes indicate that Nvidia is aware of an ongoing crash issue in the game. The latest 552.44Nvidia driver release notes mention the "Tekken8may random crash during" under "open issues". gameplay on GeForce GTX10-series graphics cards".

A simple Reddit and Steam community search reveals many players complaining of random crashes and hard rock while playing the game, although quite a few have reported using 10 series cards, many still have various hardware issues. The crash issues do not appear to be solely based on them because they are reported.

South Korean players have already complained about the crash, which is said to be related to Intel's Core i9 processor, but the problem doesn't seem to be limited to Tekken 8 — and motherboard makers scramble for potential fixes while fingers are pointed to both sides — a high-tech game. If you have an end-of-the-line Intel chip or an older GPU, you may at least have some explanation for the mysterious crash issue in the game, but in both cases a proper fix may take some time.

However, what this driver release does is add game-ready support for 2 big upcoming PC releases: Ghost of Tsushima, launching May 16, and Home World 3, released on May 13.

For GOT, the game will support DLSS2 and DLSS3 in frame generation along with Dlaa and will feature Nvidia Reflex to reduce system latency. On the other hand, Home World 3 gets DLSS2, and by the appearance of the driver notes, not so much in terms of other Nvidia features. It is at least ready for the game. That's what we know.

Well, there's nothing much worse than finding your favorite game right now, but given that Nvidia is aware of the problem, hopefully, in the meantime, some samurai antics and gentle 3D RTS clicks are more on my street. You young 'uns enjoy your fighting game, you irascible scamps. I'll be in the corner and frown with approval.
