This Lenovo gaming laptop didn't make sense at the full price, but now the Legion log is under the under700 and is actually a flat-out bargain

The Legion LOQ series gaming laptops were meant to be taken by Lenovo in terms of the market budget, except when I first saw a machine with this RTX4050, but it was nothing more than a budget. At the first sticker1, 100 sticker price, there was no way to realistically recommend it as a genuine purchase, but now Legion LOQ is just 7 700 at Best Buy today.

As I said in the Legion LOQ review, grabbing a machine at a hefty discount is worth it, but even for 1 penny, I didn't necessarily expect it to fall below7700.

For this price, its negative point will not be such an obvious problem. That RTX4050 isn't the recommended mobile GPU for gaming laptops, but given that it's a 75W version that performs surprisingly well compared to the 4060W RTX95, I'm not down that much at this price. In fact, even in terms of standard 1080p games, it works similarly to the Gigabyte G5KF we've loved so much and absolutely hoses the MSI Cyborg 15 with a 45W RTX4060.

These are 2 budget gaming laptops that usually sell at a higher price than this Lenovo machine, but they don't necessarily exceed that in terms of gaming performance. And you also have an excellent AMD Ryzen7 7840HS CPU, which is an excellent processor that offers seriously for this money.

But if you wanted to be able to use the integrated Radeon780M for some battery life that enhances the game away from the plug socket — it's after the iGPU behind the most powerful gaming handheld — you're out of luck. This is 8GB of single-channel memory, as it is the other major failure of Legion LOQ at full price.

It's not enough to keep an integrated graphics chip running at its best, but thankfully, it's also one of the cheapest upgrades you can make. It is also one of the easiest, thanks to how accessible the internal organs of the machine are.1  In addition, the LOQ has a spare M.With 2 slots, the problem with 512GB SSDs is also alleviated. That means you can boost your storage in just 10 minutes by literally dropping a fresh new SSD.

The screen may be a bit dingy, but it's not something you can do anything about, but at the price of this sub-sub700, the Lenovo Legion LOQ suddenly makes sense. Its 95W RTX4050 is a surprisingly competent gaming GPU.

So it's a properly budget gaming laptop, but when you're using it, it doesn't really feel that budget... As long as there's a bit more memory out there anyway.
