Resident Evil modders and the biggest fighting game channel on YouTube join forces to improve the 26-year-old April Fool's joke

Resident Evil The creators of randomiser mod are working with YouTube's biggest fighting game channel, Maximilian Dood, to bring players the legendary Akuma mode for the original Resident Evil 2, a 26-year-old gag.

It all started as a simple April Fool's joke in 1998, the game magazine EGM2 It was a street fighter character in Resident Evil 2 as long as you completed the game as both Leon and Claire with a handgun and a knife alone and achieved an A-rank in every single scenario. When he deceived the reader to believe that it was possible to unlock the character Akuma (via GamesRadar).

Unfortunately, this simple task did not reap the proposed benefits, and it left many Resident Evil 2 players confused and upset about the lack of Akuma, but it solidified this cruel joke into a state of urban legend and left it to life as an unattainable myth. Or it was.

Snipzu, Captain Kashup, and Zkys3Dge, the mods behind Resident Evil randomiser BioRand, announced on Twitter that this is no longer the case: "After 26 years, rumors have finally come to light that in collaboration with @Maximilian_, we are pleased to present you the AKUMA mode. You can do it!"

They also showed off a short video of Akuma fighting zombies in the original Resident Evil 2.

You can check out Akuma mode for yourself on its ModDB page, but it only works for the Classic Revival (patch for PC ports) and Resident Evil 2Sourcenext PC version, so make sure you have the latest version installed.

The team is also working on fixing minor issues, such as running an exe in admin mode or the game crashing when a player is in Kendos Gunshop. Otherwise, it all seems to go smoothly and the mods have announced that they are working on updating the mode: "For now, Akuma mode is not randomized," BioRand's mods say in a tweet. "But we are planning to do it as soon as possible, as well as chasing him as a full-fledged character in BioRand itself whenever we can"

This mod will bring all the guest stars who turned into zombies, as if solving the 26-year-old joke is not enough. You can find and defeat them. This mod has not yet been translated into a remake, but with this awesome mod that adds more than 1,700 camera angles to the Resident Evil 2 remake, you can get ready to watch Akuma from all angles.
